Steppenwolf Performs Live for WCEP’s 30th Anniversary!

To kick off our 30th Anniversary Celebration, WCEP took a Magic Carpet Ride with the legendary John Kay & Steppenwolf, who performed a live concert at Pure Space last Friday, April 15.

Over 500 clients, vendors and friends were invited to kick-off the year-long celebration with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a private concert to commemorate the theme “Still Rockin’ After 30 Years.” In the “Born to Be Wild” spirit, Paparazzi Tonight set up a photo booth where guests posed on a Harley motorcycle.

Pure Space was transformed into a concert hall for the evening, and was completely carpeted and draped-off for sound and privacy. The venue featured a full stage, state-of-the-art JBL VERTEC sound system, and a custom designed light show with over 125 lighting fixtures and 14 moving intelligent lighting fixtures. Projected on an oversized screen behind the stage, a video show accompanied the band’s performance, and was designed and produced by John Kay’s 30-year veteran member and co-songwriter Mike Wilk (who recently joined the WCEP production team full-time).

“I’ve been with John Kay for many years now, and this is the best gig I’ve ever played with John Kay and Steppenwolf!” – Gary Link, Steppenwolf Bass Player

Portland Center Stage’s Groovy Gala

A groovy time was had by all at Portland Center Stage’s 2011 Gala this month:

It’s a Mod, Mod, Mod, Mod, World

Guests entered under an illuminated truss system that created the platform for a 12’ DJ tower. Tie-dye drape and bean bags encircled a holographic dance floor set beneath a mirrored ball treatment that descended from the 40′ framed ceiling. The mezzanine featured ultra-lounge seating surrounded by Op Art and iconic memorabilia from the era.

WCEP’s design team created two custom drink stations for the evening: a hippie bus with light-up head lights and a dedicated John Lennon bar encased with vinyl records. Art of Catering was at their best showcasing their Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds Seafood station.

Wedding Spotlight: Eric & Molly, October 2010

This October wedding, held on a family ranch in Roseburg, featured a mix of the traditional and modern. The all white color palette, combined with navy and gold accents, was brought to life by local artist Holly Werner’s floral arrangements.

With a romantic backdrop of the ranch’s pond, the reception was held under a 50′x120′ tent with a chiffon liner, complete with carpet, flooring and a white dance floor. Guests dined at tables adorned with white shantung linens, gold chiavari chairs and gold candelabras draped with crystals. Two lounge areas were furnished with custom white shantung pillows with navy blue satin piping.
